These refined sugar free rolls are also dairy free. Fig rolls are a deliciously Autumnal treat, I have created a recipe which uses oats, cinnamon and ginger for the outer layer. Oats are incredibly nutritious, boasting a variety of antioxidants. The warming taste of ginger, is also high in antioxidants as well as having incredible anti-inflammatory powers. Cinnamon is amazing for the immune system with it’s anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. You could call these super food fig rolls, as they definitely have super powers!
Fig Rolls Out Layer Ingredients:
- 2 Cups of Oats
- 1 Tbsp of Flax Seeds
- 4 Tbsp of Chia seeds
- 1/4 Cup of Water
- 6 Tbsp of Olive Oil
- 4 Tbsp of Honey
- 1/2 Tsp of Ginger
- 1 tsp of Cinnamon
For The filling: My Fig Jam Recipe.
Place 2 cups of oats, 1 tbsp of flax seeds, 4 tbsp of chia seeds, 1/2 tsp of ginger and 1 tsp of cinnamon into a food processor. Once a flour like consistency has formed add 1/4 cup of water, 6tbsp of olive oil and 4 tbsp of honey.
Wrap in cling film and place in the fridge for an hour.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a long rectangle. On one half of the rectangle spoon the mixture in a line all the way down. Carefully wrap the non jam half around the other, using water to stick. It’s like making a sausage roll! Cut into slices and bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes at 180’c.
